Discussion Forums

Community Guidelines

1. What is the purpose of the Discussion Forums?

The Discussion Forums are a space for CNAR’s regulatory community to connect, share knowledge, and exchange perspectives. Whether you are posting a question, sharing a resource, or joining an ongoing conversation, the forums are here to support meaningful engagement across the community.

The forums are accessible to Organizational Members, Individual Affiliates, Suppliers, and Partners. All posts are tied to your Portal account and are visible to other logged-in users. Posting is not anonymous.

Posts should be professional, respectful, and relevant to the forum or topic where they appear. Participants are encouraged to share knowledge, ask questions, and engage with differing perspectives in good faith. Solicitation, advertising, and unsolicited promotional content are not appropriate in the forums. Content shared in the forums is visible to all Portal users. If you are sharing information that is sensitive or specific to your organization, use your judgment about what is appropriate to post in a shared space.

CNAR staff create and administratively manage all forums. Within each forum, any Portal user can start a new topic or reply to an existing one. For more information on how to navigate and use the forums, please refer to the section below.

CNAR does not assign moderators to individual forums. If you have a concern about a post or topic, please reach out to us at AskCNAR@cnar-rcor.ca and we will follow up.

Have an idea for a new forum or community dialogue topic? If it is not already a forum, feel free to post in General Discussion to gauge interest from the community. If there is traction and we have not already acted on it, reach out to us at AskCNAR@cnar-rcor.ca and we would be happy to take it into consideration.

Using the Forums

1. How do I post a new topic?

To post a new topic, navigate to the forum where you would like to post and scroll to the bottom of the page. Enter your topic title, add your content using the formatting tools available, and optionally add attachments. When you are ready, click Submit.

To reply, open the topic you would like to respond to and scroll to the bottom of the page. Add your response in the reply box and click Submit. Please note that at this time there is no way to tag or directly mention another user within a thread. If you would like to reference a specific post, you can refer to the post number. If the person you are responding to is subscribed to the forum or digest, they will still receive your reply based on their notification settings.

You can edit your post within 3 hours of submitting it. To edit, navigate to your post and select the Edit option. Once the 3 hour window has passed, the option will no longer be available.

Yes, you can attach files when posting a new topic or replying. The maximum file size allowed is 512 KB per attachment. You can add multiple files using the Add Another File option.

Topic tags are optional keywords you can add to your post to help categorize it and make it easier for others to find related discussions. A good tag is short and descriptive, such as the topic area, regulatory function, or theme your post relates to. You can add multiple tags to a single post.

We are currently aware of a display issue with the search function and are working to resolve it. We will update this page once it has been fixed.

If you are experiencing login or access issues, please visit the Member and Affiliate Login FAQ page (Portal Login Issues) for guidance. If you are still unable to resolve the issue, reach out to us at AskCNAR@cnar-rcor.ca and we will be happy to help.

Forum Notifications and Digest

1. How do I subscribe to a forum to receive notifications?

To receive notifications about new posts in a specific forum, navigate to that forum on the Discussion Posts page and click the Subscribe link located just above the list of topics on the right side. Once subscribed, you will receive email notifications for new posts in that forum as they are made in real time.

The Digest is a summary of posts made across all Discussion Forums delivered to your email inbox at a frequency of your choosing. Unlike forum subscriptions which send individual notifications in real time, the Digest compiles all activity into a single email. Please note that the Digest covers all forums and cannot be tailored to specific ones.

To set up or update your Digest frequency, log in to the Portal and navigate to My CNAR Portal at the top menu. Select My Profile from the dropdown and scroll down to the Additional Information section. In the Digest Frequency field, select your preferred frequency, either daily, weekly, monthly, or never, and click Update to save your changes.

Please contact AskCNAR@cnar-rcor.ca if you are continuing to experience issues or have any additional questions.
